Homeowner Needs

A hall bathroom is a hardworking home essential—and for this 1990s hall guest bath in Lake Stevens, it was time for a much-needed refresh. While the space had held up structurally over the years, the homeowners were more than ready to say goodbye to the dated tile countertop (grout lines and all), honey oak cabinetry, and discolored vinyl flooring. Their vision? A modern update featuring a deep soaking tub, a fully tiled shower, and a fresh, elevated design to match the rest of their home.

Remodeling Solution

This remodel followed a classic “Remove & Replace” approach—keeping the existing plumbing and electrical layout, while transforming the space with thoughtful upgrades. Although the vanity, toilet, and tub/shower remained in their original locations, the updates were anything but basic. The new vanity includes smart storage and organization features for everyday essentials, while updated plumbing fixtures add style and performance. A larger, more elegant bathtub enhances comfort, and concealed wall backing was added to support future grab bars—ensuring the space remains both beautiful and functional for years to come.

Result

This hall guest bathroom now features a refreshed aesthetic with 6×18 American Olean Sunset Falls tile in gray, laid in a ½ brick pattern on both the floor and shower walls. A glass enclosure with an outswing door replaces the old shower curtain, keeping the space feeling open. The former oak medicine cabinet has been replaced with a stylish niche, complete with shelving that matches the new walnut vanity.

What We Love

This bathroom is a standout for its ease of cleaning and low maintenance. The Brizo plumbing trims in Brilliance Brushed Nickel resist water spots and fingerprints while offering exceptional durability. The sleek Toto Nexus one-piece toilet features an ion-barrier surface that helps keep the bowl clean with every flush. For added peace of mind, our Hydroshield installer applied hydrophobic protection to the tile grout lines, quartz countertop, and glass enclosure.

Our Favorite Detail

We love how the clean lines in this bathroom complement each other, and how the vanity sconces, mounted on the oversized mirror, reflect to create the illusion of two fixtures on either side of the double sinks. Handy cabinet inserts with built-in outlets for hair tools and shaving accessories help keep the countertop clutter-free and pristine.
