Homeowner Needs
This upstairs hall bathroom was largely unused in a busy household of five due to its lack of functionality. The sloped ceiling made standing in the tub/shower impractical, and the aging 1960s plumbing was leaking and in poor condition. Outdated features, including a lavender countertop and painted backsplash tiles, were long overdue for a modern refresh to better suit the family’s needs.
Remodeling Solution
The floorplan of this upstairs bathroom was reimagined to maximize functionality without removing any walls. The tub was replaced with a shower, now positioned where the toilet once was. Thanks to a glass shower wall and door, natural light from the window floods the space, making the narrow 6’5” x 13” bathroom feel open and airy.
The homeowners chose a freestanding vanity with white shaker-style doors, designed to resemble a piece of furniture rather than a traditional built-in, complementing the Manoa LVP flooring. Matte black Moen fixtures provide a sleek contrast to the lighter textiles, including a Persian-style runner and soft, neutral towels. The shower floor features honed white and gray marble hexagon tiles by Arabescato Carrara, adding a touch of timeless elegance.
Rounded domes on the Just Enough Retro Vanity Light cast a warm glow, with its matte black finish tying together the vintage-inspired design and modern sophistication of this beautifully transformed space.
Result
This reimagined upstairs bathroom blends modern functionality with vintage-inspired charm. A sleek glass shower, white shaker-style vanity, and matte black Moen fixtures create a bright and open feel, complemented by elegant marble hexagon tiles and warm retro lighting. The result is a stylish, inviting space that maximizes its narrow footprint.
