Homeowner Needs

Functionality was the driving force behind this Snohomish primary bathroom redesign. With a cramped shower and an underused tub, the goal was to make better use of the existing footprint while creating a space that feels more elevated for everyday living.

Remodeling Solution

The transformation began by rethinking the layout to better support daily use. By removing a wall and eliminating a small walk-in closet, space was created for a private water closet while opening up the room for a more spacious, comfortable shower.

Where a large tub once filled the space between the vanity and window, a custom made bench and nearby heated towel rack now create a more relaxed, spa-like experience, adding comfort without overwhelming the room.

The walk-in shower serves as the focal point, designed for both function and enjoyment. It features a rain head, body sprays, and a steam unit, all thoughtfully positioned for ease of use.

Material selections were chosen to feel both durable and connected to the overall design. Cosentino’s Dekton slab was fabricated for the custom shower tray, oversized soap niche, window wrap, and substantial floating bench, complemented by large-format Crystara Ocean tile and glossy 4 x 5 hexagon tile accents.

Natural light continues to shape the room, with existing windows and a skylight bringing in brightness throughout the day. A backlit mirror adds a soft, ambient glow in the evening.

The custom floating vanity introduces warmth through its wood tone, slightly deeper than the flooring. Hidden outlets within the two top drawers maintain a clean, uncluttered look.

Challenge

Preserving the existing windows and skylight above the vanity was an important priority for the homeowners. During construction, it became clear that the skylight glass had been compromised and needed to be replaced. Rather than replacing the entire unit, we were able to coordinate with a glass specialist to replace only the glass within the existing frame, maintaining the original structure while resolving the issue.

Result

The balance of warm wood tones, clean surfaces, and the dramatic steam shower tile creates a space that feels both refined and inviting, transforming this Snohomish primary bathroom into a true haven.
